Second Roundhouse Fire, January 1923 First Roundhouse Fire, December 1895

The first roundhouse fire in 1895 did major damage to the building, but no engines were lost due to the blaze.

The Coudersport & Port Allegany was not so lucky when fire struck the roundhouse in January 1923, as all four of the engines that were currently being used were severely damaged, including  engines 1, 4, 5 & 6.  The number 3 engine had been retired, but was still on the grounds, so it was quickly readied and returned to service while the damaged engines were repaired.  The railroad also rented an engine from the Shawmut Railroad in order to continue operations.

There was a third fire in March of 1931 which was not as destructive, but still necessitated repairs to the engines that were inside at the time.
